01 · On arrival
Large dog at CDG: terminal or cargo?
After a passenger flight, the meeting is arranged around your arrival terminal and when the dog is returned to you. If your companion is shipped as cargo, we need the address of the facility releasing the dog and someone authorised to complete the handover. The meeting points and timing differ. We confirm the location and any loading help when you enquire.
We choose the vehicle for your dog, crate model and all your luggage. Send a photo of the crate label and tell us whether it must stay assembled on the road journey. See our pet taxi airport transfers for transfers at Paris CDG and the other airports.
Arriving with the owner
Send the flight, terminal, arrival time, destination, crate and luggage details before arranging pickup.
Cargo handover
Provide the exact cargo address and the person authorised to collect the dog; the driver joins after the agreed release.
For Cergy, Pontoise or northern Île-de-France, also see our Val-d’Oise pet taxi page.

Which vehicle for your large dog and crate?
For a private hire ride with a large dog, enter passengers, dogs, crates and all luggage. The preselected example shows a large dog with a large assembled crate and suitcases: the calculator suggests a Van. If two very large crates must both stay assembled, select “2 VANS”. We then confirm the actual load.
A starting point for your journey
A Van may suit you
A Van can carry the large assembled crate, passengers and luggage according to the available space. We check each crate model and the load before confirming.

The question we hear most often“Will my 121 × 82 × 90 cm crate really fit without taking it apart?”
Large assembled crate in the Van: which sizes?
For a CDG transfer with a large dog, an XL, XXL or XXXL crate can stay assembled in the Van’s boot. The 121 × 82 × 90 cm crate given for this German shepherd also fits assembled. The table below lists models and outside dimensions; a photo of the label avoids hand-measurement errors.
- One large assembled crateThe listed sizes, up to the XXXL example, can stay assembled in the Van’s boot. We check passenger and luggage space.
- Large crate + another animalThe large crate stays assembled in the Van. If a second crate needs dismantling, its animal travels at a passenger’s feet or on a seat, secured with a suitable belt, on a throw or blanket.
- 2 very large cratesTwo very large crates that must remain assembled call for “2 VANS” in the fare calculator.
Passengers, checked suitcases, cabin luggage, bags and backpacks all take space. We plan the load with you before confirming one or two Vans.

These views help you picture one assembled crate on board. For a CDG Van carrying a giant crate and luggage, we also check the seating layout and all suitcases.
A 121 × 82 × 90 cm crate can stay assembled in a Van. The Sky Kennel Giant/700 at 122 × 81 × 89 cm and an XXXL crate around 122 × 82 × 97 cm fit as well. These are examples of different models: check your crate’s exact reference, passengers and luggage.
Another common question“I have two dogs, two crates and suitcases. Can the largest stay assembled?”
Find your crate size by model
These outside dimensions (length × width × height) spare you from measuring the crate by hand. Check the brand and model on its label, or send us a photo. XL, XXL and XXXL labels vary by maker: an XXL may even be slightly shorter than another brand’s XL. Giant/700 is a Sky Kennel model name, not a universal XXL size. Wheels or accessories can also change the overall height.
| Model / size | Dimensions | In an AnimalCab van |
|---|---|---|
| Sky Kennel 36″ Large | 91 × 64 × 69 cm | Yes, assembled |
| Sky Kennel 40″ XL | 102 × 69 × 76 cm | Yes, assembled |
| XXL crate (another brand, example) | approx. 100 × 70 × 75 cm | Yes, assembled |
| Ferplast Atlas 70 Professional | 101 × 68,5 × 75,5 cm | Yes, assembled |
| Sky Kennel 48″ Giant / 700 · model name | 122 × 81 × 89 cmGerman shepherd enquiry: 121 × 82 × 90 cm | Yes, assembled |
| XXXL crate (example) Confirm the exact model | approx. 122 × 82 × 97 cmListed inside: approx. 114 × 74 × 87 cm; weight approx. 19 kg | Yes, assembledWheels and accessories may change the height. |
Each size shown can stay assembled in a Van. Sky Kennel and Atlas 70 dimensions are indicative; XXL and XXXL vary by brand. A dismantled crate still uses space. Two very large crates that must remain assembled call for two Vans; include passengers and all luggage too.
Which dogs?“My dog is a Cane Corso or a Great Dane: what size crate should I plan for?”
Large dog breeds and crate-size guides
For a Labrador or German Shepherd, a crate around 100 × 70 × 80 cm can be a starting guide. Very large dogs may need the 48-inch or larger models listed above. These outside measurements are indicative: breed alone cannot determine a flight crate. Check the exact model and the space your dog needs.
Large and XXL crates: which dogs?
Depending on their individual build: German Shepherd (especially large males), very large Belgian Tervuren, Cane Corso, Dogue de Bordeaux, Rottweiler, Golden Retriever, Husky, Labrador and Alaskan Malamute. A Great Dane, Saint Bernard or Newfoundland may need a crate larger still.
What does “48 inches” mean?
It describes a length of about 122 cm, not a standard width or height. Some 48-inch crates, including folding models, measure roughly 121–123 × 74–77 × 80–81 cm; that does not mean an airline will accept them. The 48-inch Sky Kennel Giant / 700 shown above is wider and taller: approximately 122 × 81 × 89 cm.
Large 48-inch models are often associated with dogs around 41–50 kg, sometimes up to about 55 kg depending on the maker. That is not a sizing rule: for a flight, the dog must be able to stand, turn and lie naturally in the crate, and the airline must accept the model and route. For our Van, send the exact crate reference and list the other animals, passengers and luggage.
The preflight question“If my crate fits the van and says IATA, will my airline accept it?”
IATA sets the framework; each airline decides for its flight
The IATA Live Animals Regulations, including Container Requirement 1 for dogs and cats, cover space for the animal, construction and ventilation. Your dog must be able to stand, turn around and lie naturally. IATA does not certify brands or models: an “IATA” label does not guarantee acceptance. For the flight, confirm useful inside space, the model’s outside dimensions, dog + crate weight, aircraft and route with the airline.
| Airline | Published rule | For 121 × 82 × 90 cm |
|---|---|---|
| Air France | Hold: dog + crate up to 75 kg; rigid crate meeting the airline’s conditions. Confirm the size for your flight. | Ask about the exact crate |
| KLM | 122 × 81 × 89 cm and 75 kg including the animal; 102 × 69 × 76 cm on some European Boeing 737 and Embraer flights. | 82 cm wide and 90 cm high exceed the published maximum |
| Lufthansa | Its hold reservation form indicates up to 125 × 75 × 85 cm and asks for the exact dimensions. | 82 cm wide and 90 cm high exceed the limit |
| Iberia | Hold: pet + crate up to 45 kg with prior authorisation; Air Nostrum limits the crate to 83 × 65 × 56 cm. | Giant/700 too large for Air Nostrum; check weight and Iberia flight |
| Air Canada | Hold: 292 cm total (length + width + height), 45 kg including the animal; flight restrictions apply. | 121 + 82 + 90 = 293 cm: ask for a measurement check |
Limits vary by aircraft, connections and cargo service. The customer example at 121 × 82 × 90 cm exceeds the cited KLM and Lufthansa limits on paper; its 293 cm total also exceeds Air Canada’s published 292 cm. The XXXL example at 122 × 82 × 97 cm is taller still: fitting in our Van does not mean it will be accepted on a flight. Ask the operating airline for written confirmation using the crate’s exact model.
03 · After the flight
From CDG to Paris or further with a large dog
With a private driver, you can travel directly to your address after arrival. We plan the journey from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport around the passengers, crate and suitcases. If a crate is dismantled after the flight, its animal travels, with your agreement, at a passenger’s feet or on a seat with a suitable safety belt and a throw or blanket.
For a longer trip, tell us about the breaks you would like after the flight. Water is available on board and suitable stops are planned for the dog and route. Our long-distance service explains how to plan the onward journey.

05 · Before booking
Your large-dog CDG questions
These questions are anonymous paraphrases of enquiries AnimalCab receives repeatedly: the concern is often the crate size, then room for a second crate, passengers and suitcases.
Can my large dog travel outside its crate after the flight?
Yes, with the owner’s agreement: at a passenger’s feet or on a seat, secured with a suitable belt and a throw or blanket. The empty crate may then travel dismantled if the load requires it. If your dog must remain in its crate, tell us before booking.
Will my 121 × 82 × 90 cm crate fit assembled in the van?
Yes. A crate of this size can travel assembled in the boot of one of our Vans, as the photos show. The smaller models in our table and the XXXL example at 122 × 82 × 97 cm can too. We check passengers and all luggage before confirming.
Will an XL crate and my luggage fit?
Yes. A Sky Kennel 40″ XL at about 102 × 69 × 76 cm can remain assembled in a Van. Give us the model name, passenger count, checked and cabin suitcases, bags and backpacks so we can plan the remaining space.
Can one large crate stay assembled and a second travel dismantled?
Yes. The large crate may stay assembled in the Van while the second crate’s panels travel dismantled. With your agreement, the second animal rides at a passenger’s feet or on a seat, secured with a suitable belt and protected by a throw or blanket. Count luggage and passenger seats too.
We have two very large crates. Do we need two Vans?
Yes, if two very large crates must both stay assembled. Select “2 VANS” in the fare calculator and include passengers, checked and cabin suitcases, bags and backpacks. If one crate can be dismantled, we plan for its animal to ride at a passenger’s feet or on a secured, protected seat.
Does an IATA-labelled crate work on every airline?
No. IATA sets container and animal-space requirements but does not certify brands or models. Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, Iberia and Air Canada each have their own size, weight and flight limits. Confirm your specific crate with the operating airline for every flight; fitting in our van does not mean an airline will accept it.
How do I arrange a taxi at Roissy-CDG with my dog and a large crate?
For an arrival with the owner, we agree on a meeting point for the flight and terminal after the dog has been released and arrival formalities are complete. For an animal shipped as cargo, the pickup takes place at the precise cargo facility address under its handover arrangements. These are different journeys.
Can my dog travel without a passenger?
Yes. The Pet taxi category may suit a dog travelling alone. Tell us who is authorised to hand over and receive the dog, their contact details, the exact address and any transport instructions. A large assembled crate can require a different configuration, which we check before booking.
Does every large dog need a muzzle?
Size alone does not mean every dog must wear a muzzle. Tell us the breed and any rules applying to your dog, particularly if it is legally categorised, along with its behaviour and usual travel routine. We agree on the pickup conditions before the journey.
How much is a taxi for a large dog from CDG?
The price depends on the destination, time, vehicle, passengers, luggage, crate and agreed services. The table shows examples for other routes in the direction indicated, including Paris to CDG: it is not a CDG to Paris price. Send your details for a confirmed fare before booking.
