Taking a taxi with your dog, made simple

Looking for a dog-friendly taxi often starts with a simple question: can we travel together? With AnimalCab, you tell us how much space everyone needs before departure. A Shiba Inu without a crate, a large poodle with its owner, or two dogs and a family’s suitcases all need different arrangements. Our service connects your address in Paris or Île-de-France with an appointment, station, airport or another French city. Please also mention a pushchair, a dismantlable crate or any help you would like with luggage. These details help us plan a suitable journey from your first enquiry.

For a pickup in Massy or Évry-Courcouronnes, see our pet taxi service in Essonne for local information to help plan your journey.

Why travel with your dog?

Adopting a dog: preparing for the homecoming

3D illustration of a woman in a terracotta cardigan meeting a tan mixed-breed dog wearing a harness in a shelter garden

When adopting from an SPA shelter or another rescue organisation, plan a pet-friendly transfer with the team: discuss the dog’s temperament, habits and collection time. Make sure you can meet their needs at home. Check the adoption fee and what it covers, such as identification and vaccinations. Request the adoption agreement or transfer document, veterinary certificate, health record and proof of I-CAD registration, the French pet identification register. Check your contact details, the change of registered keeper and the formalities for the French certificate of commitment and knowledge, including the waiting period before collection. Identification and transfer documents — Service Public (French)

On collection day, bring a properly fitted collar or harness, a lead and any belongings supplied by the shelter. If your new companion is nervous in cars, mention this when booking your dog-friendly taxi so we can plan the journey and their space with you. We agree on the collection time with the people involved and arrange travel with or without a crate, according to the chosen configuration.

Before your private dog transfer home, secure windows, balconies and garden exits. Prepare a bed in a quiet spot, drinking water and the dog’s usual food. Let them explore at their own pace, with gradual, supervised introductions to children and other animals. Keep early visits limited and establish regular feeding and walking times. If settling in proves difficult, contact the rescue for post-adoption support.

Tip: Before leaving the shelter, ask the team to check the harness fit and save the number of the person providing your adoption follow-up.

Dog shows: preparing for the event and the journey

At a conformation dog show, a judge assesses pedigree dogs against their breed standard, including their structure and movement. The regulations set out puppy, junior or veteran classes and progression to the main ring. To plan your private dog transfer, check the arrival time, ring number and exhibitors’ entrance. Prepare the requested identification, vaccination records and pedigree documents, such as the LOF birth certificate or an equivalent recognised record. Check veterinary inspection requirements and the rules on when dogs may leave before arranging your return pickup.

Pack a suitable show lead, a bowl, water and a familiar mat for rest breaks. Give your dog time away from the bustle when needed and avoid forcing repeated interactions. When booking your dog-friendly taxi, describe the space needed for the crate, suitcases and exhibitors’ equipment. AnimalCab can then plan the load and drop-off at the agreed entrance, with the return journey arranged in advance.

Pet exhibitions offer opportunities to meet exhibitors and enjoy demonstrations and workshops. Their admission conditions can differ from those of a dog show. Animal Expo – Animalis Show is announced for 24–25 October 2026 at the Parc Floral de Paris, with the Natura Dog Party among its activities. Check the latest programme, dog ticket arrangements and admission conditions before booking a dog-friendly chauffeur service for your visit. Programme and visitor information — Animal Expo (French)

Tip: Keep the entry confirmation and access map available on your phone, then send your driver the exact entrance where you need to be dropped off.

Countryside holidays: enjoying the stay with your dog

3D illustration of a red-haired woman in a green jacket crouching beside a tricolour Beagle on a lead on a country path

A countryside break gives you and your dog new walks and landscapes to enjoy together. Before booking a cottage or holiday home, check its pet policy, garden fencing and access to nearby roads. Keep the dog’s usual food, bedding and lead within easy reach. For a pet-friendly transfer to your holiday home, give AnimalCab the accommodation’s exact address, passenger count and luggage volume.

For a long-distance dog-friendly taxi journey, arrange breaks with us and keep the bowl handy. At each stop, clip on the lead before opening the door so your companion cannot jump out alone into unfamiliar surroundings. Adapt walks to your dog’s age, fitness and the weather. Before travelling, ask your vet which parasite prevention suits the destination; after walks, check your dog’s coat even if they are treated.

During the stay, supervise your dog and keep them away from livestock, crops and wildlife. Observe signs and marked hunting areas. In France, from 15 April to 30 June, dogs must be on a lead in forests outside forest paths; local rules or protected areas may impose stricter conditions. For your return, book a dog-friendly chauffeur service with your preferred departure time and details of any extra luggage. Walking your dog in French forests — ONF (French)

Tip: Before your holiday, save the details of a vet near the cottage and pack a walking bag with water, a bowl, a lead and a tick-removal tool.

A vehicle prepared for your companion

Our dog taxi vehicles are disinfected and equipped with protective blankets to welcome dogs of all sizes. Fresh water is available on board. We plan your companion’s space alongside the passengers and luggage, taking account of their travel habits. The fixed price for your journey is provided before booking, based on the addresses, vehicle and agreed services. Please mention any return journey, waiting time or extra stop when you enquire.

03 · Further, together

A dog-friendly taxi for a longer journey

A holiday, a house move or an arrival in France with your companion: a private journey can take you directly to your destination address. We plan the load, route and breaks around the length of the journey and the needs you tell us about.

For a dog taxi journey to Lille, Lyon or Bordeaux, keep the lead, water and familiar belongings within easy reach. If a crate is dismantled to save space, its panels and fixings travel with you.

Your dog-friendly taxi questions

A few answers to help prepare your companion’s journey.

Can I travel in the taxi with my dog?

Yes. The Comfort category includes at least one accompanying passenger. A Van can accommodate more people, depending on the space needed for dogs, crates and luggage. The Pet taxi category is for an animal travelling without its owner.

Does my dog need a crate in a dog-friendly taxi?

A crate is not always necessary for your dog. Tell us your dog’s size and travel habits so we can agree on a suitable arrangement. If you have a crate, provide its external dimensions and tell us whether it will remain assembled. For a flight or train journey, check your carrier’s conditions separately.

Can you carry large dogs or several dogs?

Yes. The Comfort category can accommodate up to 2 dogs, 3 passengers and 3 suitcases. Tell us the dogs’ breeds and weights, and the dimensions of any crates, so we can plan their space. A Van may be suggested if a large assembled crate or additional luggage requires more room.

Can my dog travel without me?

Yes, an unaccompanied journey can be arranged in the Pet taxi category, or in a vehicle suited to the load. Before confirming, we check who will hand over and receive the dog, the exact addresses and your dog’s needs.

Does the displayed fare cover the whole journey?

The table shows sample fares per vehicle for the listed journeys, rather than a per-person charge. Your booking price is confirmed using the exact addresses, date, time, animals, luggage and options. Please mention a return journey or waiting time when you enquire.

How do I book a dog-friendly taxi for a station or airport?

Provide the date, time, exact addresses, flight or train number, and passenger count. Add details of the dogs, luggage and crate dimensions. This helps us choose a vehicle and agree on a meeting point. Book ahead so we can prepare the pickup.
