01 · By your side

Taking a cat taxi, with a clear plan

A kitten new to travelling, a British Shorthair familiar with its carrier, or a Maine Coon needing more room: every departure needs a slightly different plan. Tell AnimalCab what is travelling with you before the pickup. Our taxi service for cats connects your home to a clinic, station, airport or another address. Courtyard access, stairs without a lift or additional suitcases are useful details when agreeing on the pickup point.

Travelling from Boulogne-Billancourt or Nanterre? See our pet taxi service in Hauts-de-Seine to plan a local pickup.

Three occasions to plan your cat’s transport

The vet: planning the appointment and the journey home

A cat taxi can take you to a follow-up consultation, examination or vaccination appointment. Prepare a sturdy, ventilated carrier that fits your companion. A few days beforehand, leave it open at home with familiar bedding so your cat can explore it. It stays closed during the journey, with its position agreed with the driver. If travelling causes severe distress, ask your vet for advice ahead of time.

To arrange cat transport to the clinic, provide the appointment time, exact address and number of accompanying passengers. Keep the health record, relevant reports and clinic contact details in an accessible bag. After a procedure, follow the veterinary team’s discharge instructions: the driver arranges the journey, while advice about care and fitness to travel comes from your vet.

Plan the return taxi journey with your cat too. Consultations can run over, and discharge times may be uncertain: tell us whether you need a one-way transfer, a separate return or agreed waiting time. If nobody can accompany your cat, we arrange the carrier handover with you and the clinic, checking who is authorised to send and receive your companion.

Tip: Keep the clinic’s name and phone number, and the name of the person collecting your cat, handy. After treatment, confirm the discharge time before arranging the pickup.

Boarding: choosing a stay that suits your cat

Before booking a cat taxi to a boarding cattery, choose care that suits your companion’s habits. Some cats cope better with their owner’s absence when a sitter visits them at home. If you choose boarding, ask about individual accommodation, cleanliness and escape prevention. Check the admission conditions, including vaccination records, and whether the team can meet your cat’s particular needs.

A transfer with your cat needs to fit the cattery’s reception hours. Give us the address, the contact for the person on duty and access instructions: gates, a reception away from the car park or a strict arrival slot need planning. Gather the requested documents and label your companion’s bag so their belongings can be identified when the carrier is handed over.

For this feline taxi journey, tell us whether you will travel with your cat or entrust the pickup to the driver. Ask the cattery about permitted belongings, usual meals and any written veterinary instructions. For the return, arrange for someone to be at home and choose a time that fits the cattery’s checkout: your companion travels directly to the agreed address.

Tip: Prepare a short sheet with your cat’s habits, your contact details while away and the vet’s number. Agree its contents with the cattery before the pickup.

Moving home: keeping familiar things close

A house move by cat taxi needs to account for a tricky moment: doors are often left open while boxes are carried through. Keep your companion in a quiet, closed room away from the bustle. At the new home, prepare a room with familiar belongings, water and a litter tray. Open the carrier only once inside, with doors and windows secure, and let your cat explore at their own pace. Cats Protection’s moving home advice

Your cat transport needs to fit the moving schedule. Tell us who holds the new home’s keys and choose a time when someone can welcome you. Describe the carriers, passengers and luggage separately. A few suitcases and your cat’s belongings take up different amounts of space from a load of moving boxes: we choose the vehicle around what is actually travelling with you.

For a private driver journey with your cat over a long distance, keep contact details for the people at both addresses handy. If several cats are moving with you, plan a separate closed carrier for each and provide their external dimensions. Arrange to update your identification contact details and find a vet near the new home. The journey and arrival need planning together, even if the furniture follows later.

Tip: Tell the removal team which room is reserved for your cat and put a note on its door. Confirm that the new home will be accessible before the vehicle sets off.

A vehicle prepared for your companion

Our feline taxi vehicles are disinfected and have protective blankets. Fresh water is available on board. From a small cat to a larger companion, we plan room for the carrier alongside your luggage. Tell us about travel habits and any difficulties during journeys. A fixed fare is supplied before booking for the agreed addresses, vehicle and services: please specify any return journey, waiting time or stop when you enquire.

03 · From one address to the next

A cat taxi for a longer journey

Travelling to Paris from Nantes or Strasbourg, or leaving Paris for Toulouse: a private journey lets you plan departure and arrival with everyone involved. We organise loading, the route and stops around your needs. Tell us when both addresses are accessible and keep a destination contact available.

For this journey with your cat, pack their belongings separately: an absorbent liner, familiar bedding, water and litter supplies for arrival. Plan breaks without letting your cat out at a roadside stop: the carrier stays closed. Any arrangement requiring it to be opened needs advance planning in a fully secure place.

Your cat taxi questions

Useful answers about carriers, accompanying your cat and making a booking.

Can I travel in the taxi with my cat?

Yes. Comfort includes an accompanying person and allows up to 3 passengers. A Van can accommodate up to 7 passengers, depending on the arrangement. We check the space needed for closed carriers and luggage before confirming the vehicle. The Pet taxi category is for an animal travelling without an accompanying passenger.

Does my cat need a carrier in a cat taxi?

Prepare an S or M crate, or a closed, ventilated soft carrier that fits your cat. Soft carriers are accepted in every vehicle category. Your cat stays inside during transport, including when getting into and out of the vehicle. Give us the carrier’s external dimensions so we can plan its position. If connecting with a flight or train, check your carrier’s conditions as well.

Can I travel with several cats and their carriers?

Yes. A car can accommodate up to four S or M cat crates, subject to their dimensions and the space needed for passengers and luggage. Plan one carrier per cat. Closed soft carriers are also accepted in every category. The selector gives an initial suggestion; we then confirm the space alongside passengers and luggage.

Can my cat travel without me?

Yes, we can arrange an unaccompanied pickup. We agree who will hand over and receive your cat, their contact details and the timing. The vehicle depends on carrier numbers and the load. For a clinic or boarding cattery, check that someone will be available for the handover.

Are the fares in the table charged per cat?

No. These are sample fares per vehicle for the journeys in the direction shown. Your fixed booking price is confirmed using the exact addresses, date, time, cats, passengers, luggage and agreed options. Please specify any waiting time, return journey or extra stop when you enquire.

How do I arrange a cat taxi to a station or airport?

Provide the train or flight number, time, addresses and number of passengers. Add the number of cats, carriers and suitcases, plus carrier dimensions. We plan the meeting point and loading. Check the conditions for travelling with your cat on the train or flight directly with the operator.
